Federation Fellowship Weekend &
Annual Council Meeting 2010
Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd May 2010
at Best Western Bromley Court Hotel
Bromley Hill, Bromley, Kent BR1 4JD England
Dear Fellow Stedfast members,
I must admit to a certain amount of pleasure in being able to offer the invitation to come to Bromley for the Federation's annual event, when our Stedfast family will meet in fellowship.
I do hope that the dates of 21st to 23rd May are written large in the booked part of your diaries, and that you are making arrangements to be with us. It is very encouraging for our committee, that a Stedfast delegate travelling all the way from New Zealand, has already booked his place to be present that weekend.
Bromley is superbly placed, especially if you intend adding some more days to your visit.
A special rate of £66.00 pp per day for half board, has by agreed with the hotel for those Stedfast members thinking about staying in London a little longer. Best Western Bromley Court Hotel is close to Gatwick and City Airports, and a number of motorways M2, 20 and 25. Bromley is a first class shopping centre and has lots of other activities to offer you. There is also a range of very good transport facilities into the heart of that great city London.
Our committee, has been working hard in preparing a great weekend for all of you. The programme has already been planned, and is enclosed for your information along with a Booking Form and other items of tourist information.
Sunday morning in particular will be a special time of fellowship when Stedfast members join with BB Bromley Battalion, for a parade service at the Bromley Civic Centre. With bugle and brass bands present it will be a memorable occasion for sure.
I do ask that your Association makes every effort to have representation at this year's Federation event. I am sure that it will be a really special time of Stedfast fellowship.
If you have any questions concerning the weekend please do not hesitate to contact the Registrar Roger Wallis or event Coordinator John Bates, they will be happy to assist you.
I am looking forward to meeting you all and sharing in the work of the Federation, reminiscences of Boys' Brigade and Church life.
So please book now, you don't have to pay until February 2010.
Every blessing to you all.
Rev John L Lines MBE
Chairman
Stedfast Association London.

The Danish Boys and Girls Brigade (FDF) National Brass Band is touring England from 29th March to 4th April 2010. The tour includes visits to the Boys' Brigades in London and the 1st Kempston Boys' and Girls' Brigade in Kempston near Bedford. A joint practice session with the Virtuosi GUS Band in Northampton is also planned. The Band last visited England in 2005, and the connections and friendships established at that time will be further strengthened with this visit.
Since the 2005 tour, the Band has been on a nationwide tour of Denmark which included a visit at the FDF Annual Camp, participation in a competition in Nyborg, Denmark, and the Band also performed at the FDF national congress. In 2008, the Band completed a successful tour of Austria.
The members of the FDF National Brass Band are from the children's- and youth organisation FDF, a sister organisation of the Boys' and Girls' Brigade in England. Many of the band's members are leaders, conductors and instructors from a total of 10 local FDF bands across Denmark.
The FDF National Brass Band is a project orchestra. The Band meets 4 times per year, working toward the completion of a specific project which is often a tour, participation in a contests etc. All members have applied for admission to the orchestra followed by an admission test to determine their suitability for the project. New members are accepted once a year and a vast majority of them are musicians in their 20s, but there are also both younger and older members in the Band which reflects the composition of the local orchestras.
This year's project completion is an Easter tour of England, a tour which the members is looking forward to very much. They are looking forward to experiencing and revisiting locations visited in 2005, and to performing great and entertaining concerts for large audiences.
The Band's repertoire is a wonderful mix of classical music, classic brass band music, movie and television soundtracks, popular music, jazz and swing; in short, any type of music that challenges the Band. The concert is performed with a twinkle in the eye and a smile, and we trust we can guarantee an excellent and very varied concert experience.
This season, the FDF National Brass Band is conducted by John Frederiksen, a trained trumpeter who has previously performed with the Southern Jutland Symphony Orchestra. Today, he is working as a Culture Manager in Sønderborg, Denmark. John Frederiksen is an accomplished conductor whose ability to bring out the best in the musicians and the material, makes the entire orchestra shine in brilliance. He has boundless levels of energy which is infectious to the musicians and spellbinds the audience. The FDF National Brass Band is delighted and proud that John Frederiksen is heading up our orchestra again this season.
